Thanks for dropping by. My name is Steve Barber and I'm a photographer based in the beautiful English Lake District. The first 20 years of my full-time photography career was spent as a press photographer and picture editor. I left in 2006 to embark upon a freelance career concentrating on editorial, public relations and commercial photography.
Since then I've worked with a wide range of public and private sector clients to create strong imagery that illustrates and reflects the individual qualities and strengths for their organisations and brands.They have been used across major marketing and PR campaigns, websites, in national press and magazines and to ensure businesses are able to maintain a strong, professional presence on social media channels.
In addition to my editorial work I began to shoot more weddings. I decided to distance myself from traditional wedding photography and the endless lists of stage managed group shots. The press photographer in me felt the best pictures were being missed so I started to shoot weddings the way I wanted to, recording real moments, real reactions and real emotions in a creative way.

Quite often, outside influences mean couples are pressured into having every variation of family and friends lined up for dozens of group shots too.
As a Documentary Wedding Photographer I have to say IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE THAT WAY and IT IS YOUR WEDDING!

Magical moments, emotional moments and hilarious moments.
There is nothing wrong with traditional wedding photography but my style is about capturing the laughs, the tears, the tension, the hugs and most importantly the love.
