Gerard O'Kane Photography

My Name is Gerard O'Kane from the great city of Derry, father of 3 and oldest of a family of 8. I grew up in the Glen area of the city from where I began taking pictures at a young age but never took it seriously until I was in my 20's, even then I played with a 35 mm camera shooting mainly in Black and white developing and printing in my bedroom.

Photography has taken a giant leap from not too far back with the digital revolution and technology, Gone are the days of developing black and white images to a fully digital office suite from where I work from at present. My passion is landscape and Nightsky with maybe a mix of portraiture, a combination which I believe works very well if you follow my style I tend to do my portraits on location giving it a uniqueness as locations change with the seasons never the same colours twice.

This past several years my first holy communion portfolio has exploded, these sessions are held on location. Kids don't sit too long after Mass, so I create a fun shoot with a bit of laughter to let the kids relax and get the craic going while always shooting to capture the fun as we go.
