I'm Joanna Rose, a colourful and creative photographer based in Liverpool, specialising in fine art newborn baby photographs, fun toddler and child photos, cute pet portraits, natural family photographs and documentary wedding photography. This is where my heart is, in my work, so I hope my website will give you a feel for what I'm like, what my photographs are like, and what I could offer you as a photographer throughout Liverpool, Merseyside and the UK.
Here you will find pages dedicated to each area of photography that I cover, from tiny newborn babies and mischievous children, right up to furry pets and beautiful weddings. I absolutely adore my job as a photographer, it's literally a dream come true for me to be able to do this for a living.
I get to fill my soul with emotion from my photojournalistic wedding approach, I get to feed my artistic brain as a newborn baby photographer, I get to cuddle adorable pet puppies and most importantly, I meet families, day in, day out, that become more like friends; people that I keep in touch with to see how they're doing, people coming back to me so I get to see their beautiful babies grow up, wedding clients with pregnancy bumps, the list goes on.

I originally started out studying Law at University, but as nice as the paycheck from a law career would have been, my love for all things arty meant I needed a creative career in order to be truly happy.
So I followed my heart (ignored my dad's sensible advice) and embarked on my photographic love affair.
I went and gained an NCTJ qualification in photojournalism and was given the opportunity to work for the national press in Liverpool.
I moved, from Sheffield, without knowing anyone, and worked my little bum off, gained as much experience as possible, photographed some amazing events, met some remarkable people and left with my head held high to start up a new venture working for myself.

My style is colourful, creative and super relaxed; I want to spend the day catching natural moments that piece together a real story, so I won't be pulling people into poses, I keep group photographs to a minimum and I'll never ask the groomsmen to pick up the bride for cheesy pictures!
I will, however, focus all my energy on capturing the smiles, laughs and happy tears throughout the day, documenting moments that will evoke emotion when people look through the photographs.
I want couples to look back on their wedding pictures and re-live the thoughts and feelings from their day, I don't want them to remember being bossed around, or told where to stand and how to pose - weddings are supposed to be fun!

Newborn baby photography sessions are all about getting beautiful images of your baby whilst they're tiny, so I don't want you to feel stressed if they're wide awake for the first hour; for this reason, I only book one session a day so you needn't worry about any time pressures - your baby runs the session!
I'm a Liverpool based newborn photographer so I have a cosy studio in South Liverpool, which I love working in for all the traditional cute newborn photographs, but I also offer documentary sessions where I travel to clients homes and photograph families in their natural environments, in an unposed, lifestyle way - these are great for slightly older babies.

I love family sessions because I do them all on location, so there's no awkward studio poses and your children are able to show off their personalities and have fun!
My family photography is completely tailored around you - they're always documentary, lifestyle sessions, and it's entirely up to you where we hang out for pictures.
All I do is encourage you to pick a place/or an activity that you, as a family, love so I can capture your personalities in full, rather than posing you up in a studio, where the kids can get bored easily!

If I had it my way then you'd find me snuggled in bed at night with 100 cats and dogs, a few bunnies and maybe a goat have you seen the video clip of the goats yelling like humans?
Youtube it if you haven't - amazing!.
I love love love animals, particularly ones I can cuddle, and I absolutely love my pet photography work; I would keep all the pets that come through the door if I could!
I try to showcase each pet's personality in my photographs, so that you can look back on the pictures as your pet grows up and be reminded of their special characteristics - how fluffy they were, how much they loved playing fetch, their favourite spot on the sofa at home or how much kitten mischief they've tried to cause you - so whether that's a trip to their favourite park, rolling around in mud, hogging the sofa in your lounge or a fun studio session, we can figure something out to suit you!
