With over 11 years as a wedding & portrait photographer I can confidently say I know what I'm doing. Having someone photograph your wedding is a huge task, there's so much more to your day than having someone "just" take your photos. I tend to be the person who can guide you on what works & what doesn't, the dress doer upper, the taxi, the fetcher, the seamstress, the button hole pinner and the silly lady who pokes her tongue out at giggling kids.
My approach to taking wedding photos has been tried and tested shooting lots of incredible weddings. So first on my list is the location of your preparations.
Are you planning on staying at a hotel, or perhaps you are getting ready at home or a relatives house.

If having a wedding in the UK just isn't for you, and you see yourselves hand in hand on a sandy beach, a thriving cosmopolitan city or under a Tuscan sun, then the photography doesn't need to take a back seat because of logistics.
Surprisingly enough, having a photographer based in the UK is perhaps more convenient than booking someone from aboard and you may not meet them until your wedding day.

I'm not one for having my own photo taken so I fully understand why having a portrait session must be relaxed and fun! and whilst I won't pose you, I will however direct you, I won't make you do cheesy poses or jumping in the air etc as this just isn't my style.
I'm more contemporary than cheese!
