I'm Julie Broadfoot, a freelance professional photographer based in Glasgow. Most of my shoots are in Scotland but I am available for work across the UK and worldwide. I rarely face a camera and feel a bit lost without mine in my hand. I take natural, relaxed, authentic portraits that flatter. I don't believe in Photoshop fakery. I love the reactions my clients get when they update Facebook and LinkedIn with their new photos.
Then there's the work I do at events - candid storytelling in a documentary style, watching people and capturing moments, anticipating action, whether it's at a conference, charity walk, family party or a wedding. Exactly the same approach applies when I'm shooting live music gigs or on film/TV sets - they're where I learned my craft. In 2010, I decided it was time to move on from a long career at the BBC.
