I'm a portrait & wedding photographer and I live in Sherburn-in-Elmet, Yorkshire, with my wife and daughter. I've been shooting weddings for about 10 years now, all across Yorkshire. I'm lucky enough to work all over the rest of the country too. I love to see new places and meet new people, discover what connects them and I love to tell their stories through documentary photography.
For most of the day, I work in a completely natural way, no posing. No feeling uncomfortable while I set up lighting. I want the real moments & the real connections and relationships between you and your guests. Captured authentically, as they happened. Mark's work is absolutely stunning and we have the most amazing collection of photos to show for a fantastic day.
And it's not just the photos either, he was really friendly and helpful, catering to our whims and just being a generally nice guy! Capturing the relationships and connections in the most natural way is really important to me. I consider "We hardly knew you were there" to be a huge compliment.

I love meeting people and hearing their stories and taking their photographs.
I spent 10 years travelling the world doing it.
Now, home is about half way between Leeds and York in a village called Sherburn in Elmet with my wife and manager, Fiona and our 3 year old daughter.
She's everyone's manager.
I love to work in my studio in Sherburn in Elmet.
There's no better feeling than showing someone something new in their face.
Something that they've never seen before, in a face that's looked back at them from the mirror all their life.

I like my wedding photography to tell a story.
I aim to capture a little bit of that story in every image.
By using composition, framing, exposure and timing I capture every emotion and moment on your wedding day.
In the spirit of telling a story, my wedding photography portfolio, although not all shot at the same wedding, starts in the morning, with the bride getting ready.
The photographs throughout the slideshow represent different moments throughout the day.
Typically, I start the day with the bride and bridesmaids as they go about their preparations.

Whether you're looking for a fine art portrait of yourself or a loved one to hang above the fireplace for generations to come, or a fun shoot of the kids playing with the dog in the woods, you're in the right place.
In the studio in Sherburn in Elmet, just outside Leeds, we can cater for all types of studio shoot from a single sitter on their own to couples, children and even pets.
Alternatively, I can come out to you and shoot a more Environmental Portrait, to capture the essence of your surroundings in the image.

Until my own daughter was born, I don't think that I truly appreciated how fast children grow up!
One minute they are crawling around, the next they are up to their ears in all sorts of mischief.
It's great to be able to capture it all on phones - my phone is always telling me there's no memory left because it's full of photographs.
However, how many do we actually look at again and again?
I mean, really look at, like we would look at framed and printed family portraits?
I always try to shoot lifestyle portraits and family portraits outdoors.

I like to include an engagement shoot whenever I'm booked to photograph a wedding.
For me, it's important because it's a great chance to get to know you a little better before your wedding day.
I also get to see how you are in front of the camera.
It's important for you too because you get to understand more about how I work and get to know a bit more about me.
Engagement, or pre-wedding photo shoots as they are sometimes known, are also great because they get us all out of the house!
You can't beat a nice, relaxed walk.
